Flexible High-Temperature Tapes for Sealing, Insulation & Thermal Protection
High-temperature tapes are woven technical narrow textiles designed for sealing, insulation and thermal protection in thermally demanding applications. Typical uses include industrial furnaces, doors, flaps, flanges and piping, as well as machinery and plant engineering.
Fingerhuth manufactures high-temperature tapes from aramid fiber, E-glass, HR glass, silica glass fiber, AES fiber and ceramic fiber. This provides a broad selection of material systems for different thermal and mechanical requirements.
Depending on the product grade, different widths, thicknesses, weave constructions and application-specific designs are available – from standard roll goods to defined specifications for recurring industrial requirements.
High-Temperature Tape Materials for Different Temperature Ranges
The fiber material determines the fundamental temperature range and key performance characteristics of the tape. Six material groups are available to meet different thermal and mechanical requirements.
High-strength, abrasion-resistant fiber for applications exposed to both thermal and mechanical stress.
Proven base material for industrial sealing and insulation applications at moderate operating temperatures.
Higher-temperature glass fiber grade for demanding thermal applications beyond the typical operating range of conventional E-glass.
High-SiO₂ fiber material for demanding sealing and insulation applications at high temperatures.
High-temperature fiber with increased biosolubility and reduced biopersistence for flexible sealing and insulation applications under high thermal loads.
High-temperature fiber for particularly demanding thermal loads and specialized industrial applications.
High-Temperature Tapes at a Glance
Our product range includes woven high-temperature tapes for a wide range of thermal and mechanical requirements. Depending on the material, widths up to 200 mm and thicknesses up to 20 mm are available.
| Fiber Material | Construction | Temperature | Thickness | Standard Width |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aramid Fiber | Woven aramid fiber tape with finished woven edges | up to 350 °C | 2–20 mm | 20–200 mm |
| E-Glass Fiber | Woven E-glass fiber tape with finished woven edges | up to 550 °C | 1.5–20 mm | 10–200 mm |
| HR Glass Fiber | Woven HR glass fiber tape with finished woven edges | up to 750 °C | 1.5–20 mm | 10–200 mm |
| Silica Glass Fiber | Woven silica fiber tape with finished woven edges | up to 1000 °C | 1.5–20 mm | 10–200 mm |
| AES Fiber | Woven tape made from biosoluble fibers, glass- or metal-reinforced | up to 1050 °C | 2–20 mm | 10–200 mm |
| Ceramic Fiber | Woven ceramic fiber tape, glass- or metal-reinforced | up to 1260 °C | 2–20 mm | 10–200 mm |
Additional options: Depending on the tape grade, self-adhesive backing as an installation aid, custom coatings, reinforcements and application-specific designs may be available.
Technical note: Temperature ratings refer to the respective material or tape design. Reinforcements, coatings and especially self-adhesive systems may have different temperature limits. Suitability must therefore be evaluated for the specific application.
Select the Right High-Temperature Tape for Your Operating Conditions
Selecting the appropriate tape requires more than considering the maximum temperature. The type and duration of thermal exposure, installation conditions and mechanical loads are equally important.
