Textile Fire Protection for Pallets, Wire Mesh Boxes and Industrial Load Carriers
Pallets, wire mesh boxes and custom load carriers are used throughout industry and logistics for a wide variety of materials, components and goods. Depending on the storage location and adjacent processes, these goods may be exposed to thermal hazards caused by flames, flying sparks, hot particles or intense radiant heat.
Fingerhuth fire protection covers provide a high-temperature-resistant textile protection and containment barrier between the respective load carrier and its surroundings. Their protective function is deliberately designed to work in both directions.
On the one hand, the cover protects the pallets, wire mesh boxes or objects underneath against external flame exposure, flying sparks, hot particles and intense radiant heat. On the other hand, if a thermal event occurs within the covered area, it can help to limit the spread of flames, sparks, hot particles and thermal radiation into the surrounding environment.
The covers are manufactured from high-temperature-resistant HR glass fabric with a flame-retardant silicone coating on both sides. The material composite is designed for continuous temperatures up to 1,000 °C and can withstand short-term thermal peak loads of up to 1,200 °C.
Our primary focus is on dimensions for Euro pallets, Euro wire mesh boxes and load carriers based on these standard formats. However, our designs are not restricted to standard dimensions. Length, width, height and structural details are engineered and manufactured according to the individual customer requirements.

Forklift Access Openings Integrated Directly into the Design
A fire protection cover for pallets and wire mesh boxes must integrate into existing logistics processes. For this reason, the intended pick-up points for forklifts and other industrial trucks are already taken into account during the design stage.
Depending on the load carrier used, the covers can be manufactured in a 2-way or 4-way design. The corresponding access openings allow the forklift forks to pass through the designated areas and underneath the load carrier.
In the standard design, these areas are manufactured in a colour matching the grey fire protection cover. Optionally, the forklift access openings can be clearly highlighted in red.
The colour coding improves visual orientation in day-to-day logistics operations and helps forklift operators quickly identify the intended pick-up points.

HR Glass Fabric with Silicone Coating on Both Sides for High Thermal Loads
Industrial warehousing and logistics environments place high demands on the protective material used. In addition to temperature resistance, a robust textile construction and a surface suitable for everyday handling are particularly important.
Fingerhuth therefore uses high-temperature-resistant HR glass fabric with a flame-retardant silicone coating on both sides.
The material composite is designed for continuous temperatures up to 1,000 °C. Short-term thermal peak loads of up to 1,200 °C are possible.
In addition, the material has been tested for its reaction to fire in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1 and for its electrical behaviour in accordance with DIN 54345-1. This makes the material particularly suitable for industrial applications where thermal resistance and robust handling must be combined.

Protection Against External Flame Exposure – and Containment of Thermal Events Inside
The requirements placed on a fire protection cover vary considerably depending on the application. In many storage areas, valuable goods or components need to be protected against a fire event in their surroundings. In other situations, the thermal risk originates from an abnormal or already burning pallet or wire mesh box itself.
The Fingerhuth fire protection cover therefore acts as a high-temperature-resistant textile barrier with bidirectional protective performance.
In the event of external flame exposure, it helps shield the covered pallet, wire mesh box or object underneath against direct flames, flying sparks, hot particles and intense radiant heat.
If, on the other hand, a fire or high-temperature event occurs within the covered area, the cover can help limit the spatial spread of flames, sparks, hot particles and thermal radiation into the surrounding environment.
The fire protection cover can therefore be used both as a preventive protective barrier for exposed stored goods and as a containment measure for pallets, wire mesh boxes and objects that are already thermally abnormal or burning as part of an operational safety concept.
