High-Temperature Textiles & Textile Seals
High-Temperature Textiles for Industrial Sealing, Insulation & Thermal Protection
Fingerhuth offers high-temperature textiles and textile sealing solutions for industrial applications in which high temperatures, radiant heat or thermally stressed components place demanding requirements on the materials used. The portfolio includes woven and sealing tapes, braided packings, sealing cords, textile sleeves and custom-made sealing profiles.
Product form alone does not determine the correct selection. Depending on the temperature range, mechanical load, installation situation and required function, different fiber systems are available: E-glass fiber, HR glass fiber, silica glass fiber, biosoluble AES fiber and ceramic fiber. This enables textile solutions for a broad range of industrial high-temperature applications.
These narrow technical textiles are used, for example, in industrial furnaces, mechanical engineering, plant engineering and thermal processing equipment, as well as for sealing and insulating doors, flaps, joints, lines and components. In addition to standard dimensions, custom dimensions, constructions and special versions are available depending on the product group.
High-Temperature Textiles for Different Sealing and Insulation Requirements
Different textile constructions are used depending on the installation situation and required function. Our portfolio includes high-temperature tapes, braided sealing packings, sealing cords, textile sleeves and custom-made sealing profiles.
Within each product group, different fiber materials, dimensions and textile constructions are available. This allows the design to be selected specifically for temperature, geometry, mechanical load and the required sealing or insulation performance.
Which High-Temperature Textile Is Right for Your Application?
In addition to product form, the key selection criteria are operating temperature, type of thermal exposure, installation situation, dimensions, mechanical load and required function. We support you in selecting the fiber material, textile construction and suitable design.

Frequently Asked Questions About High-Temperature Textiles and Textile Seals
Selecting a suitable high-temperature textile depends on several factors. In addition to temperature, the fiber material, textile construction, installation situation, mechanical load and required function are particularly important.
The portfolio includes high-temperature and fiberglass tapes, braided packings, sealing cords, textile sleeves and custom-made sealing profiles. Depending on the product group, different fiber materials, dimensions and constructions are available.
Depending on the requirements, textile high-temperature products are made from materials including E-glass fiber, HR glass fiber, silica glass fiber, biosoluble AES fiber and ceramic fiber. The materials differ particularly in their temperature ranges and application-specific properties.
E-glass is a proven material for numerous technical textiles in the moderate temperature range. HR glass grades are designed for increased thermal requirements and therefore extend the application range of conventional fiberglass textiles.
The suitable material depends not only on temperature but also on the product construction and operating conditions.
Silica fibers have a high SiO₂ content and are used particularly for higher thermal loads where conventional fiberglass grades reach the limits of their suitable application range.
Whether a silica product is required should be evaluated on the basis of continuous and peak temperature as well as the specific thermal exposure.
AES stands for Alkaline Earth Silicate. These are biosoluble high-temperature fibers used for various flexible sealing and insulation products. Depending on the construction, products such as tapes, cords and packings are available.
Depending on the fiber material and product construction, textile solutions are available for different high-temperature ranges up to approximately 1,260 °C.
However, the maximum temperature of a fiber material must not be applied indiscriminately to every product manufactured from it. Reinforcements, coatings, yarn construction, and the duration and type of thermal exposure can affect the actual operating range.
Sealing cords are flexible textile products that can, for example, be twisted, knitted or braided. Packings typically have a defined braided construction and are available in different cross-sections such as round, square or rectangular.
The more suitable design depends on the sealing gap, compression, geometry and mechanical load.
Selected tape grades are available with a self-adhesive backing as an installation aid. It is important to note that the temperature resistance of the adhesive system must not be equated with the temperature resistance of the high-temperature textile.
Availability and suitability are therefore evaluated for the specific application.
Tadpole gaskets combine a flexible textile sealing bulb with a mounting tail. This allows the profile to be secured to the component while the bulb provides the actual sealing or insulation function.
They are particularly suitable for custom sealing geometries in machinery, plant and furnace engineering.
Particularly helpful information includes product form, dimensions, continuous and peak temperature, installation situation, required function, mechanical load and required quantity.
