Custom-manufactured textile heat protection sleeves for protecting temperature-sensitive cables, electrical wires, hydraulic and pneumatic lines, hoses and cable bundles against contact heat, radiant heat and high ambient temperatures.
THERMAL CABLE PROTECTION · CUSTOM-MANUFACTURED
Thermal protection where cables, wires and hoses are exposed to heat
Cables, electrical wires, hydraulic and pneumatic lines, and technical hoses are often routed close to hot components, exhaust systems, furnaces or other thermally exposed process areas within machinery and industrial equipment.
Custom heat protection sleeves and high-temperature sleeving provide a flexible textile barrier around these temperature-sensitive components. Depending on the material construction, they can reduce heat transfer and provide protection against contact heat, radiant heat and high ambient temperatures.
Fingerhuth manufactures heat protection sleeves individually according to diameter, length and thermal exposure. Material, coating, construction and fabrication are selected according to the actual application.
Depending on the material system and type of thermal exposure, solutions for temperatures up to 1000 °C can be realised.
CONTACT HEAT · RADIANT HEAT · AMBIENT TEMPERATURE
Protect temperature-sensitive cables and hoses against external heat
In thermally demanding machinery and industrial equipment, cables, wires and hoses can be exposed to temperatures for which their original insulation or outer covering was not designed.
An additional textile heat protection sleeve creates a thermal barrier between the protected component and the heat source. Depending on the material and construction, the sleeve can provide protection against high ambient temperatures, contact heat and incident radiant heat.
This is particularly relevant where cables and hoses are routed close to exhaust components, hot piping, engines, process equipment, furnaces, heating systems and other heat sources.
The objective is not only short-term protection against temperature peaks, but a thermally suitable protection system for the actual operating conditions.

More than continuous sleeving – custom-fabricated for your application
The key difference lies in our application-specific fabrication. We do not view high-temperature sleeving simply as continuous textile tubing, but as a finished technical component designed for the specific installation.
Diameter and length are selected to suit the cable, wire, hose or cable bundle being protected. Within our standard range, diameters from approx. 10 to 250 mm can be manufactured. Other dimensions can be evaluated on a project-specific basis.
Depending on the application, end sections, cut-outs, overlaps, reinforcements, fastening points and other design details can also be incorporated. This provides a reproducible solution for one-off components, small batches and recurring series production.

Material selection based on the actual thermal exposure
High-temperature applications do not all present the same requirements. The material used for the heat protection sleeve is therefore selected according to the temperature, type of heat transfer and environmental conditions.
Different glass fibre and high-temperature fabrics can be used as the textile base. For particularly demanding thermal applications, correspondingly temperature-resistant material systems are available.
Depending on the protection requirement, surfaces can additionally be finished with silicone, PU, aluminium foil or special high-temperature finishes. This allows the sleeve to be tailored not only to temperature, but also to requirements relating to flexibility, mechanical stress, heat reflection and environmental conditions.

Correct sleeve selection starts with the type of thermal exposure
A maximum temperature rating alone is not sufficient for selecting the correct heat protection sleeve. The decisive factor is how heat is transferred to the component requiring protection.
A permanently elevated ambient temperature creates different requirements from direct contact with a hot component or intense radiant heat at close range.
Our technical assessment therefore considers the temperature and type of heat source, distance, exposure time, component diameter, required flexibility, available installation space and environmental conditions. Based on these parameters, the material, coating, sleeve diameter and construction are selected for the individual application.
What information do we need for your heat protection sleeve?
For an initial technical assessment, a few basic details about the application are often sufficient. The most important information is the outside diameter of the cable, hose or bundle requiring protection and the required sleeve length.
We also require information about the thermal exposure: What temperature occurs? Is the component exposed to elevated ambient temperature, contact heat or radiant heat? What is the distance from the heat source?
Movement, bending radius, available installation space, moisture, oil and other environmental conditions can also be relevant when selecting the material. Photographs or drawings of the installation are particularly helpful for special applications. Based on this information, we can select and manufacture a technically suitable heat protection solution.
Why temperature alone does not determine the required heat protection
A high-temperature heat source does not automatically mean that the same temperature occurs at the protected cable or hose. Distance, exposure time, air movement and the type of heat transfer all influence the actual thermal load.
With direct contact heat, the temperature resistance of the material on the hot side is particularly important. With intense radiant heat, however, a reflective surface can be especially relevant. Industrial high-temperature sleeving should therefore always be selected according to the actual installation conditions and heat-transfer mechanism, rather than solely on the basis of a single maximum temperature value.
Custom heat protection sleeves as repeatable series components
Heat protection sleeves are not limited to individual machinery or repair applications. Defined dimensions and material constructions also enable the manufacture of repeatable and reproducible technical components.
This is particularly relevant for machinery manufacturers, plant engineers and vehicle manufacturers where the same thermal protection solution is repeatedly installed in a defined assembly.
From the first custom design through prototypes and small batches to series production, materials, dimensions and fabrication details can be clearly defined and reproduced for subsequent orders.
