Textile Welding Protection for Different Thermal and Mechanical Loads

Fingerhuth develops and manufactures welding blankets, welding curtains and textile welding protection solutions for industrial welding, grinding, cutting and hot work. The systems protect machinery, equipment, components, surfaces and work areas against sparks, welding spatter, molten metal splash, flames and thermal exposure.

Depending on the application, different material systems based on glass fabrics, high-temperature specialty fabrics, Preox and silica fabrics are used. Material construction, fabric weight, surface treatment and fabrication are selected according to the temperature range, spatter exposure, mechanical load and required protective function.

WELDING PROTECTION · PRODUCT RANGES

Welding Blankets and Welding Curtains for Professional Industrial Protection

Select the product range that best matches your application. Our portfolio includes mobile and flexible welding blankets, custom-made welding and heat protection curtains as well as welding curtains for automotive applications. From flexible protection of individual components and work areas to permanent separation of industrial welding zones, our product ranges cover a wide variety of thermal, mechanical and application-specific requirements.

Welding Protection Matched to Your Application

The appropriate protection solution is not determined by maximum temperature resistance alone. Other key factors include the welding process, spark and spatter exposure, mechanical load, area to be protected and required protective function. We support you with the technical selection and develop custom solutions where required.

SELECTION GUIDE · WELDING PROTECTION

Which Welding Protection Solution Is Right for Your Application?

Welding blankets and welding curtains perform different protective functions. For an initial technical selection, the temperature range is only one factor. The type of thermal exposure, sparks and welding spatter, mechanical load, required shielding area and intended use are equally important.

01 FLEXIBLE PROTECTION

Welding Blankets for Covering and Shielding

Welding blankets are particularly suitable for flexible, mobile or temporary protection tasks. They can directly cover machinery, components, floors and sensitive areas or be positioned between the work area and its surroundings.

02 AREA SEPARATION

Welding Curtains for Work and Production Areas

Welding curtains create a defined textile barrier around welding zones, machinery and work areas. They are custom-sized and can be installed as stationary, suspended or movable track-mounted systems.

03 THERMAL EXPOSURE

Temperature and Heat Exposure

The material grade must match the actual thermal load. A distinction must be made between continuous temperature, short-term temperature peaks, radiant heat and direct flame exposure.

04 WELDING PROCESS

Sparks, Welding Spatter and Molten Metal Splash

Light sparks impose different requirements than intensive welding spatter, slag or molten metal splash. The type, quantity and energy of the impacting particles influence material construction and surface treatment.

05 MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS

Mechanical Load and Reusability

For frequent movement, repeated use or high mechanical loads, fabric weight, weave construction, tear strength and fabrication are key selection criteria.

06 AUTOMOTIVE

Welding Protection for Vehicle and Production Areas

Automotive applications may involve additional defined requirements for material, visual shielding, dimensions, fabrication and standards compliance. Specially adapted welding curtain solutions are available for these applications.

APPLICATIONS · WELDING PROTECTION

Welding Protection for Industrial Manufacturing, Maintenance and High-Temperature Areas

Textile welding protection systems are used wherever welding, grinding, cutting or hot work may expose adjacent machinery, equipment, products or work areas to hazards. The protection solution is selected according to the process, temperature, spatter exposure, mechanical load and spatial requirements.

01 WELDING STATIONS

Welding and Fabrication Areas

Shielding of workstations and production zones against sparks, welding spatter and thermal exposure during manual and automated welding processes.

02 MACHINERY & PLANT ENGINEERING

Protection of Machinery and Equipment

Temporary or permanent protection of sensitive machinery, lines, components and plant areas during assembly, repair and thermal work in the immediate vicinity.

03 HOT WORK

Maintenance and Repair

Flexible shielding during maintenance and repair work when welding, cutting, grinding or other hot work is carried out within existing facilities.

04 METALWORKING

Cutting, Grinding and Metalworking

Protection against sparks, hot particles, slag and molten metal splash in metalworking, steel fabrication, foundries and comparable industrial processes.

05 AUTOMOTIVE

Automotive Industry and Vehicle Manufacturing

Custom welding protection solutions for production lines, welding cells, assembly areas and vehicle manufacturing with defined material and fabrication requirements.

06 HIGH TEMPERATURE

Extreme Thermal Applications

High-temperature resistant glass and SiO₂ silica fabrics enable textile protection solutions for thermal loads beyond the capability of conventional protective materials.

FABRICATION · CUSTOM-MADE SOLUTIONS

Custom Welding Protection for Machinery, Workstations and Production Areas

Industrial welding protection often has to be adapted to existing machinery, work areas and process conditions. We therefore manufacture welding blankets, welding curtains and textile protection solutions to customer specifications based on the technical requirements of the application.

Dimensions, material grade, edge finishing, attachment options and mounting systems can be specified to match the required protective function.

MATERIAL SELECTION

Material Matched to the Exposure

Glass, Preox and silica materials combined with different surface treatments allow precise adaptation to temperature, spatter exposure, radiant heat and mechanical requirements.

DIMENSIONS

Custom Dimensions and Geometries

Welding blankets and welding curtains can be custom-sized and fabricated to suit machinery dimensions, protection areas or individual workstations.

ATTACHMENT

Eyelets, Hems and Edge Finishing

Depending on the product and application, different edge finishes as well as eyelet and attachment configurations are available for stationary or temporary protection solutions.

TRACK SYSTEMS

Mounting Systems for Welding Curtains

For movable welding curtain systems, matching tracks, rollers, mounting hardware and accessory components are available for wall and ceiling installation.

SERIES PRODUCTION

Repeatable Manufacturing for Industrial Requirements

In addition to one-off custom products, we manufacture customer-specific textile welding protection systems repeatedly and reproducibly in series.
