Lithium-Ion Battery Storage & Charging Cabinets
A safer, controlled storage and charging area for lithium-ion batteries
Lithium-ion batteries power e-bikes, power tools, scanners, radios, drones, measuring equipment and countless other mobile devices used in professional environments. As the number of batteries in daily use increases, so do the requirements for a structured and safe storage and charging infrastructure.
Damage, cell defects or other critical conditions can trigger a thermal runaway involving intense heat, smoke, reaction gases and fire. Open shelving, scattered chargers and uncontrolled charging points provide neither centralised monitoring nor a clearly defined safety area.
LOXXER battery storage and charging cabinets therefore combine storage, charging infrastructure, event detection and alarm functions in a technically defined system. Depending on the required capacity and user structure, the range includes the compact LOXK1100, the high-capacity LOXK2000 and the LOX12 locker system with twelve individually lockable charging compartments.
Which lithium-ion battery cabinet is right for your operation?
The right solution depends on battery type, quantity, charging power, available floor space and user structure. The three LOXXER systems differ primarily in capacity, electrical supply and operating concept.
Not sure which battery cabinet is right for your application?
Key factors include battery type, number and dimensions of the batteries, required charging power, user structure and installation location. We support you with the technical pre-selection and configuration of the appropriate system.
Which battery storage and charging cabinet is right for your application?
A battery cabinet should not be selected solely on the basis of its external dimensions. The decisive factors are which batteries need to be stored and charged, in what quantity, and how the cabinet is to be integrated into the company safety concept.
The following criteria help with the technical pre-selection.
Which lithium-ion batteries need to be stored?
E-bike batteries, power-tool batteries, scanner and radio batteries or drone batteries differ in terms of geometry, energy content, charger type and space requirement. These parameters form the basis for selecting the right cabinet and internal layout.
How many batteries need to be stored and charged at the same time?
For smaller battery pools, the compact LOXK1100 may be sufficient. For higher daily charging volumes, the LOXK2000 provides significantly more capacity with four levels and up to 32 sockets.
What electrical power is required?
The number and power consumption of the chargers must match the cabinet electrical supply. In addition to the number of charging points, the total simultaneous electrical load must therefore be taken into account.
Central battery pool or individual user lockers?
LOXK1100 and LOXK2000 are designed for centralised battery storage and charging. Where batteries need to be assigned to individual employees, departments or users, the LOX12 provides twelve separately lockable charging compartments.
Where will the battery cabinet be installed?
Available floor space, electrical supply, airflow and possible integration into existing fire detection or safety systems should be considered at the planning stage. LOXXER systems are intended for stationary indoor use.
Which monitoring and alarm functions are required?
Depending on the model, the systems combine smoke and temperature detection, audiovisual alarms, active ventilation and interfaces for additional safety functions. Optional fire suppression and remote monitoring solutions are also available.

A battery cabinet is more than a fire-resistant storage enclosure
In a critical lithium-ion battery event, cabinet construction alone is not enough. Equally important are early event detection, alarm functions, airflow management and integration into operational safety procedures.
LOXXER combines these functions in a technically defined storage and charging system. The exact equipment varies depending on the model and selected configuration.
Smoke and temperature detection
Integrated sensors monitor the cabinet interior for smoke development and unusual temperature changes. This helps identify critical conditions at an early stage so that operational measures can be initiated promptly.
- Smoke detection
- Temperature monitoring
- Continuously monitored cabinet interior
Audiovisual alarm functions
If a critical condition is detected, an optical and acoustic warning is triggered. This alerts personnel immediately and allows predefined emergency procedures to be initiated.
- Acoustic warning
- Optical status and alarm indication
- Early warning in the event of a critical condition
Active ventilation and exhaust-air concept
LOXXER systems feature active ventilation with model-dependent options for connection to an exhaust-air system. The LOXK2000 additionally incorporates a dedicated pressure-management concept.
- Active ventilation
- Exhaust-air connection options
- Model-dependent pressure and airflow management
Fire alarm system integration and optional upgrades
Depending on the configuration, the battery cabinets can be integrated into wider safety concepts. Options include interfaces for external fire alarm systems, optional aerosol fire suppression and remote monitoring.
- Model-dependent fire alarm system connection
- Optional aerosol fire suppression
- Optional remote monitoring
The battery cabinet is one component of the overall operational safety concept
Battery type, stored energy, charging power, installation location and existing fire protection systems must be assessed together. A battery cabinet therefore does not replace a risk assessment; it complements it by providing a defined and monitored storage and charging area.

Frequently asked questions about lithium-ion battery cabinets
Selecting the right battery storage and charging cabinet depends on battery type, quantity, charging power, user structure and installation location. Here we answer common questions about the safe storage and charging of lithium-ion batteries in professional battery cabinets.
A professional battery cabinet provides a defined, organised and monitored storage and charging area. Batteries and chargers are kept together in one controlled location, while integrated smoke and temperature detection can help identify critical conditions at an early stage. The cabinet should always be considered as one component of the overall operational safety concept.
The LOXK1100 is particularly suitable for smaller workshops, service departments and compact battery pools. The LOXK2000 offers significantly more capacity and charging points for larger professional battery inventories. The LOX12 is designed for applications where multiple users each require an individually lockable charging compartment.
The LOXK1100 and LOXK2000 are certified to VDMA 24994. The LOX12 is offered as a separate multi-user charging locker system; this page does not state VDMA 24994 certification for that model.
VDMA 24994 defines a test concept for battery safety cabinets in which the complete system is evaluated under the stresses of a lithium-ion battery event. This includes, among other factors, the structural integrity of the cabinet and the thermal impact outside the system. Certification therefore provides a documented technical basis for operational product selection.
The systems are intended primarily for small and medium-sized lithium-ion batteries such as e-bike and e-scooter batteries, power-tool batteries, scanner and radio batteries, drone batteries and comparable mobile energy storage systems. Large forklift traction batteries or industrial high-voltage battery packs are not within the intended application range of LOXK1100 and LOXK2000.
Yes. LOXXER systems feature smoke and temperature detection for monitoring the cabinet interior. Depending on the model, a detected critical condition triggers an optical and acoustic alarm.
LOXK1100 and LOX12 are prepared for connection to an external fire alarm control system, while the LOXK2000 provides a corresponding connection option. The exact integration depends on the existing fire alarm system and site-specific configuration and should be coordinated accordingly.
Depending on the model, an optional aerosol fire suppression system is available. This provides an additional safety function. The appropriate configuration and suitability should be defined as part of the respective operational and fire protection concept.
The LOXK1100 is the compact single-door solution with two adjustable shelves and 230-V power supply. The LOXK2000 is designed for higher capacity and provides four adjustable shelves and up to 32 sockets. Both models are certified to VDMA 24994.
The LOX12 is particularly suitable for companies and facilities where multiple users need to charge and store their batteries at the same time, but separately from one another. Twelve individually lockable compartments, each with two 230-V sockets, allow clear allocation to employees, departments or user groups.
Typical applications include industry, workshops, e-bike retail, logistics centres, facility management, municipal operations, schools, universities and corporate sites with workplace e-mobility schemes. The relevant spatial, electrical and fire-safety conditions must always be considered when planning the installation.
