Flexible Sealing Packings for High-Temperature Sealing Applications
High-temperature packings are braided textile sealing elements designed for static sealing and insulation applications at elevated temperatures. Typical applications include industrial furnaces, furnace doors, inspection openings, flaps, boilers and thermally stressed process and plant components.
Fingerhuth offers sealing packings made from E-glass fiber, HR glass fiber, silica fiber, AES fiber and ceramic fiber. The combination of fiber material and braided construction allows the packing to be selected for different thermal and mechanical requirements.
Depending on the product grade, round, square and rectangular cross-sections are available in different dimensions, with optional reinforcements and application-specific designs.
High-Temperature Packing Materials for Different Temperature Ranges
The fiber material determines the fundamental temperature range and key performance characteristics of the packing. Five proven material groups are available for different temperature ranges and installation conditions.
Proven base material for flexible sealing and insulation applications at moderate operating temperatures.
Higher-temperature glass fiber grade for demanding thermal applications beyond the typical operating range of conventional E-glass.
High-SiO₂ fiber material for demanding sealing points and thermal applications at high temperatures.
High-temperature fiber with increased biosolubility and reduced biopersistence for demanding sealing and insulation applications.
High-temperature fiber for particularly demanding thermal loads and specialized industrial sealing applications.

| E-Glass Fiber | Braided glass fiber packing, round, square or rectangular | up to 550 °C | 5–100 mm |
| HR Glass Fiber | Braided glass fiber packing, round, square or rectangular | up to 750 °C | 5–100 mm |
| Silica Fiber | Braided silica fiber packing, round, square or rectangular | up to 1000 °C | 5–100 mm |
| AES Fiber | Braided AES fiber packing, round, square or rectangular, glass- or metal-reinforced | up to 1050 °C | 5–100 mm |
| Ceramic Fiber | Braided ceramic fiber packing, round, square or rectangular, glass- or metal-reinforced | up to 1260 °C | 5–100 mm |
Additional options: Depending on the packing grade, glass or metal reinforcements, impregnations, coatings and project-specific designs may be available.
Technical note: The stated temperatures refer to the respective material or packing design. Reinforcements, impregnations and coatings may have different temperature limits. Suitability must therefore be evaluated for the specific application and operating conditions.

Round, Square or Rectangular – the Right Cross-Section for Every Sealing Geometry
High-temperature packings are not selected by temperature alone. Groove geometry, sealing surface, required compression and mechanical loads during operation are equally important.
Square and rectangular packings are particularly suitable for corresponding sealing grooves and flat sealing areas. Round packings provide flexible solutions for a wide range of groove and connection geometries. Dimensions, fiber material, braided construction and any required reinforcements are therefore selected to suit the specific installation conditions.
Select the Right Sealing Packing for Your Application and Operating Conditions
Selecting the appropriate packing requires consideration not only of temperature, but also of cross-section, groove geometry, compression, movement and the environmental conditions at the sealing point.
