The vermiculite finish on both sides increases the short-term temperature resistance of the E-glass fiber carrier material to 1000 °C. The mineral-based vermiculite flakes are applied to the substrate through an aqueous dispersion treatment and form a "protective shell" that melts at high temperatures to protect the fiberglass fabric from the effects of heat - such as direct flame, welding spatter or molten metal droplets.
