Lithium-powered forklifts and electric industrial trucks are becoming increasingly important in industry, intralogistics and warehouse operations. In particular, thermal events such as a so-called thermal runaway within a lithium-ion battery can lead to extreme temperatures, intense flame development and rapid fire propagation within a very short period of time.
The fire containment blankets from Fingerhuth have been specifically developed for use on forklifts, industrial trucks and electrically powered industrial vehicles. They are designed for the rapid containment of flames during battery fire incidents and support the reduction of potential consequential damage within production, warehousing and logistics environments.
Our FFZ fire containment blankets are used wherever lithium-ion powered vehicles are charged, maintained, parked or integrated into industrial processes. Typical areas of application include logistics centers, high-bay warehouses, industrial facilities, workshops, charging zones, quarantine areas and safety-critical infrastructure with increased fire protection requirements.
Protection Against Thermal Runaway and Battery Fires
A thermal runaway within a lithium-ion battery can generate temperatures far exceeding 1,000 °C and may endanger surrounding vehicles or building structures within a very short time. Our fire containment blankets support the localized containment of fire propagation and significantly reduce the thermal impact on the surrounding environment.
Depending on the specific application, the systems can be used for:
- initial response measures during battery fire incidents,
- shielding of surrounding areas,
- the creation of temporary safety or quarantine zones,
- the reduction of flame and heat propagation,
- as well as integration into operational fire protection concepts.
The primary objective is not the complete extinguishing of a battery fire, but rather the controlled containment of the incident and the reduction of potential risks until additional measures or emergency response teams arrive.

S-TYPE Fire Containment Blanket FFZ
The S-TYPE Fire Containment Blanket FFZ has been specifically developed for industrial trucks and lithium-based industrial applications. It is based on high-purity silica fabric with a temperature-resistant special coating and is designed for extreme thermal loads.
The open-porous material structure allows the controlled release of smoke and gases, helping to reduce pressure peaks during thermal incidents. At the same time, the system creates a high-temperature-resistant barrier for limiting direct flame and heat propagation.
Different sizes and fabrication variants allow the systems to be adapted to a wide range of vehicle types and industrial applications – from standard electric forklifts to larger industrial trucks and specialized vehicles.
